Spray tanning in the cooler months
Spray tanning in winter can be a great way to maintain a healthy glow and a sun-kissed appearance even when the weather is cold.
To maintain a healthy and long-lasting spray tan during the winter months, here’s a suggested skin care routine:
- Hydrate: Cold weather and indoor heating can dry out your skin. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated from within.
- Moisturise: Apply Nourish daily, especially after showering. Pay extra attention to dry areas like elbows, knees, and ankles.
- Avoid hot showers: Hot showers can strip your skin of its natural oils and moisture, leading to faster fading of your spray tan. Opt for lukewarm showers instead, and try to limit your shower time.
- Gentle cleansers: Choose gentle, pH-balanced cleansers that do not contain harsh chemicals or sulfates. Harsh cleansers can strip away the tan faster, so opt for mild cleansers that are gentle on your skin.
- Pat dry: After showering, pat your skin dry with a towel instead of rubbing vigorously. Rubbing can cause the tan to wear off faster.
- Avoid oil-based products: Oil-based products, such as body oils and heavy lotions, can break down the spray tan and cause it to fade unevenly. Stick to oil-free and lightweight moisturisers and after care products.
- Touch-ups with Tan Xtend: As your spray tan begins to fade, you can use Xtend to touch up any areas that may have become lighter. Apply Tan Xtend to maintain a natural-looking tan.
Remember, every spray tan is unique, and it’s essential to follow the specific aftercare instructions provided by your spray tan technician to ensure the best results for your skin.
